Received Vaughn-Uyeda Memorial International Journalistic Prize

Japan Press Research Institute announced that Vaughn-Uyeda Memorial International Journalistic Prize for 2019, an annual award for Japanese journalists who have made “exceptional contributions to the promotion of international understanding through reporting”, will be given to Mr.Yusuke Murayama, deputy editor in Economic department of the Asahi Shimbun. The selection committee mentioned that “through tenacious and devoting efforts with journalistic soul, he managed to witness that migrants who seeked to reach US via South Africa consisted of around 50 countries mainly from Africa and Asia. It is also remarkable that he reported to wide range of readers and viewers through various media”.
